Description

Attention! This book is written in Dutch. An English digital version will be published later this year.

As an artist and drawing teacher for the past two decades, I have specialized in the drawing method developed in the 1960s by American writer and artist Betty Edwards. She has inspired millions of people worldwide with her book Drawing on the Right Side of the Brain.

A professor and researcher at California State University, she discovered that in order to draw, artists must learn to use how the right brain perceives.

The book consists of 288 pages that take you step-by-step through the method of learning how to perceive with the right brain. With each step you take, you are already drawing better.

After years of teaching and my own artistic practice, I have become increasingly convinced that it is our right brain that makes us happy. This part of our brain seeks connection, knows empathy, is a source of wisdom and compassion. It is the child in us that plays, imagines and is creative.

In this book you will find a method i.e. a methodical approach to learning to draw. Think of it as learning to dance. First you learn the steps you need to make. This is all rigid in the beginning. You have to think about it constantly. The more often you do it, the easier it goes. If you persevere and practice often, there comes a time when you “dance!” without any thought at all.

So it is with the drawing method found in this book! You learn it step by step. It takes effort, because you are learning something new. But, it’s just like with dance steps: once you learn the dance steps and practice them vigorously, you get wings! Then’ you sign! The book consists of 304 pages.

You can then draw everything you see and never forget it!
